Amenities are Closed
The HOA has voted to close all amenities, including the parks, per the recommendation of the Association's attorney. This policy went into effect on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.  Any attempt to access the closed amenities during this time will be considered trespassing and law enforcement will be called.  Please observe the guideline and help us stop the spread of Coronavirus.  If you have questions about the policy, please email the Board.

Coles Crossing Dads' Club Scholarship
Just TWO WEEKS left to fill out an application for our 2020 Coles Crossing Dads Club Scholarship. We’re looking to support some of our wonderful Coles Crossing High School Seniors!! Please see our website for details.

2020 Census
The 2020 Census has begun.  You may already have received a notice in the mail.  Please take the time to complete the online survey using the access code on your notice.  If you did not receive an access code, you can use your home address.  It only takes a few minutes.  This year's Census is of particular importance as Texas is slated to receive two or three new House seats and many other funding allocations are based on the results of the Census.

We want to thank our community for being a part of Friday's Blood Drive success. We collected 48 units. Thank you to  Cathy Cropper, Yuliya Drozdova, Leslie Duffie, Miriam Fairchild, and Beth Percy for their assistance with this event.

Blood supplies remain critically low. If you were unable to donate Friday but would still like to help, please follow Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center on Facebook to participate on any of their upcoming drives.

Stay Fit, Stay Safe
The Fitness Center and local gyms are closed, but you can still stay fit. Exercise is good for both mental and physical well-being. Coles Crossing is lucky to have almost five miles of asphalt trail.  Get out for a walk or run, but please observe county guidelines and maintain at least six feet of distance from others.

Need a workout plan? YouTube can be a great resource. If you have fitness equipment at home, great.  If not, select a bodyweight only workout. Many fitness apps are also offering free trials. Prevention Magazine has a list of the 20 best apps for 2020.  Try something new and improve your overall fitness level from home.  Remember, staying fit may help you stay healthy.

HARRIS COUNTY HEALTH EMERGENCY
Due to the threat of the Coronavirus, our onsite office will be closed to walk-in traffic. Lori will be working and can be contacted via phone and email.

Clubs, teams, and organizations who regularly meet in the community center will not be allowed to meet until further notice. We will notify you when you may resume your meeting schedules. Under no circumstances should any member try to circumvent this and gain access to the building.

The Fitness center will be temporarily closed for thorough cleaning and disinfection.  We will post additional information as it is available.
These steps are being taken as a precautionary measure and in compliance with recommendations by the City of Houston, Harris County, and our management company.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation during this time.

Social Distancing
The following article offers some explanations of the benefits of importance of social distancing during the early stages of an outbreak of disease. The recommendations from public health professionals and local government are intended to slow the spread of the virus and prevent an overwhelming surge in our healthcare facilities.

You can find additional resources and tips on the CDC's website.

Events are Canceled
The Events Committee has canceled the Easter Eggstravaganza and the Medicare 101 Class.  We are continuing to monitor the situation and will post updates on other events as warranted.

Help your Neighbors
A generous resident has set up a central contact point for neighbors in need.  If you are over 60 or have underlying medical conditions that put you at risk, your neighbors are here for you.  Please reach out for help with groceries or other errands.

Please email colescrossingcommandcenter@gmail.com or text 832-253-8988 with the following information:
  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone Number
  • Shopping List
  • Method of Payment
Please note that due to supply shortages, we may not be able to get everything on the list.

If you would like to help, please email us to be added to the list.

Ask the Candidates
Have you read about the five candidates for the HOA Board Election?  Would you like to learn more?  We will be hosting an online Q&A forum this year. Please submit questions for the forum here. We will share the responses via official channels by Friday, April 3.  Then come to our Easter Eggstravaganza on April 4 and meet the candidates in person. We encourage all home owners to get involved in the election process.

Playgrounds Committee News
The Playgrounds Committee is currently assessing all the tables and benches in the community. We know there are some that are in need of replacement and hope to have options for the board's review soon.  If you would like to get involved or share your thoughts, please email us.

Spring 2020 Garage Sale
The Spring 2020 Coles Crossing Neighborhood Garage Sale will take place on Sat, March 28th from 7am - 1pm, and is hosted by Troop 246. New Website, New Features
If you received this message by email, you have already registered for our mailing list. Thank you!  If you are seeing this on Facebook, please take a few minutes to visit our website and register today! Please note, this is a different login than your Crest Portal account.

Feature in Focus
As you explore the website, we wanted to offer some tips and tricks to make it more useful for everyone.  This week's feature is the "Report a Problem" feature.  Have you noticed an issue that requires HOA attention? Visit the Contact page and select "REPORT A PROBLEM" from the dropdown list.  You can provide information and upload photos right through the website.

Crest Management Portal
Do you have an account at the Crest Management portal?  Request access at Crest's website.  You can view your account, check deed restriction violations, submit architectural review requests, receive official notices, download important documents, and more.  You will need to provide proof of home ownership to register.  Please note, this is a different account registration from your HOA website account.

Why do I need so many accounts?
We recognize that there may be some confusion about the different website registrations.  The HOA website and the Crest Portal serve different functions and are managed by different entities. The HOA website is managed by volunteers of the home owners association and is where you will want to go for the neighborhood calendar, events information, resident news, committee information and much more. The Crest Portal is managed by Crest and is where you go for items that are under Crest's control (deed restrictions, account balances, official legal documents, etc.).

If you have questions about the accounts, please email the board for clarification.

Did you know the HOA has a Facebook page?
It's a great place to go for official information about Coles Crossing.  We post updates regularly.  Like the page and turn on notifications to stay in the loop.

Trash Cans
Don't forget, Coles Crossing has garage door trash pick up.  Standard sized (40 gallon or smaller) cans can be placed by your garage door, outside of gates, and visible from the street.  Oversized trash and yard waste should be placed at the curb.  If you have any questions, please see the post on our Facebook page.  We appreciate your cooperation.
