Neighbors should save the date for the Sixth Annual Coles Crossing BBQ Cook Off on Saturday, October 19. This year’s event, running from 12 PM to 4 PM, will take place in the community lap pool parking lot and will benefit the renovation of the Sampson Elementary playground. Barbecue enthusiasts will compete across six categories, including Best Brisket, Best Ribs, Best Chicken/Poultry, Wildcard, Grand Champion, and People’s Choice – a unique category where event attendees choose the winner. For the first time ever, there is no entry fee to encourage maximum neighborhood participation. Winners in each category will be awarded trophies.  Brought to you by the Coles Dads, the Cook Off will also feature live music by Midlife Riot, a rock cover band playing favorite hits spanning all decades and genres. Families can look forward to a variety of activities for children including both a Halloween costume contest and a dessert contest where all the competitors and judges are children. Our lead sponsor Lester Warren Team, Realtor Associates, will have multiple face-painters on site in addition to a booth to register for a free home valuation And for the first time this year, the Dads Club has partnered with the Coles Crossing HOA Events Committee who is sponsoring multiple children’s activities to include a video game truck, a rock-climbing wall, two bounce houses – one for little and one for bigs – and yard games.

 

As mentioned, this year’s BBQ Cook Off benefits the renovation of the playground at Sampson Elementary, an institution literally and figuratively at the heart of Coles Crossing.
